REFERENCES FROM THE FIELD OF PULMONOLOGY AND
OTOLARYNGOLOGY
Practice planning and renovation of a lung specialist centre. Complex renovation of the roof structure of a historic building
Year
2020
Area
Approx. 675 m²
Description:
The practice for pulmonology with an exclusive sleep laboratory is located in the light-flooded gable room of the historic spinning mill in Aathal, Switzerland. Spacious, inviting and far removed from any conventions.
The practice area is segmented into three parts - waiting area, examination room and sleep laboratory. They are zoned by different uses of daylight. The fourth unit is the hidden staff area. The centrally positioned reception area is the hub for staff and patients.
In order to preserve the architecture and character of the listed gable room, we as practice planners designed the individual rooms on either side of a long corridor in the longitudinal axis of the roof truss. This way, the half-timbered construction remains visible and the room retains its cathedral-like appearance.
Particularities:
In order to meet statics, building physics and monument preservation requirements, specially designed wall structures were developed.
